"It takes more than cool moves to defeat a champion. Don't forget that."

Because I work all day and all night as an Axe Cop.

How does this guy know so much about everything? He knew more about life at 26 than I hope to know at 62.

He sat in the car a moment longer and then looked at her gratefully. He started to speak but Lois slipped partly across the seat and covered his lips with her palm. When he closed his mouth she took her palm away and kissed him.

"Don't ever say thank you to a woman," she said. "They'll kill you if you do. You let the ladies say thank you."

My sin, my soul.

This Is Where I Want to Be.

Because I think it might be the most amazing thing I'd ever be permitted to see. Mount Paranal, in the Atacama Desert, Chile. So cool. I'm going here if I ever get the money. Or, you know, want to perform seppuku. Which, incidentally, looks like this.

Both are candid shots from outside the Paranal Observatory. It's one of the driest places on Earth, with some of the least atmospheric, radio and light pollution.

The best shot I found is a 360 degree panorama, but the file was too big to upload here. Because it's a panorama, imagine that the Milky Way stretches out almost straight over your head, instead of curling like that.

It was a four-by-nine-inch slice cut fresh from Joe's memory but, for all its immediacy, rendered in clean, unhurried lines, with a precision at once anatomical and emotional: you felt Joe's tenderness toward that curled little foot, that hollow back, that open, dreaming mouth drawing a last deep breath of unconsciousness. You wanted her to be able to go on sleeping, as long as you could watch.

Thanked be fortune it hath been otherwise

Twenty times better; but once in special,

In thin array after a pleasant guise,

When her loose gown from her shoulders did fall,

And she me caught in her arms long and small;

Therewithall sweetly did me kiss

And softly said, "dear heart, how like you this?"

Strange fits of passion have I known: And I will dare to tell, But in the Lover's ear alone, What once to me befell.

'Twere profanation of our joys to tell the laity of our love.

It is a restless moment. She has kept her head lowered to give him a chance to come closer; but he could not, for lack of courage. She turns and walks away.
